Bring the address you already have.
Unlike Mail is a client, not a mail service. We don't give you an address — we connect to the one you've already got and seal what passes through it. Here is exactly what that covers.

§ 01 · The Short Version
Two ways in.
Google, Microsoft and Zoho sign in directly — one click, no settings, on the web app and both native apps. Everything else connects over IMAP from the Windows desktop app: you type your address, we work out the server settings, and you paste in an app password.
Why IMAP is desktop-only. An IMAP login is a permanent password to your whole mailbox, not a token you can revoke from a settings page. A credential like that belongs on your machine. If we accepted it in a browser it would have to pass through — or rest on — our servers, and we would be holding the keys to your mail. So the desktop app opens the connection itself, and our servers never learn your mail host, your port, or your password. It costs us a feature. It is still obviously the right call.
§ 02 · Direct Sign-In
One click, everywhere.
These three we hold proper API clients for, so you never see a server setting. Works on web, Windows and Android. Custom domains included — a Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho account on yourcompany.comconnects exactly like a consumer one.

Personal and organization accounts, via the Zoho Mail API. Zoho also offers IMAP, but the direct sign-in gives better folder and search behaviour.
A note on Microsoft Teams, since people ask. Teams is chat and meetings, not a mailbox — there is no mail protocol behind it and nothing for a mail client to connect to. If your organisation runs Teams, it almost certainly runs Microsoft 365 mail alongside it, and that is what Unlike Mail connects to.
§ 03 · IMAP Mailboxes
Everything else, from the desktop app.
If your mailbox speaks IMAP — and nearly every mailbox that isn't a walled garden does — the desktop app connects to it. The lists below name providers known to offer IMAP access. That is a fact about them, not a certificate from us: we've verified the connection against standard IMAP servers, not against every host on earth. If yours misbehaves, tell us and we'll look at it.
Most hosts want an app password — a separate password you generate for apps, which takes about thirty seconds to create. Some require two-factor authentication switched on first. The app tells you which, when.

The Proton note. Proton Bridge runs on your computer and serves your mailbox locally, so the desktop app can connect to it like any other IMAP server — paid Proton plan, Bridge running, desktop only. We list it because it's true, not because we think you need it: if you're on Proton you already have end-to-end encryption and already paid for it with a new address. There's no obvious reason to add us on top. It's here for the person running Proton alongside another mailbox who wants both in one client.
Not on the list? That's not a no. These are the ones people ask about most — the arm speaks standard IMAP4rev1 and SMTP submission, so an ordinary mail server it has never met should work fine. Type your address into the desktop app and find out; if discovery can't place your host, you can enter the incoming and outgoing settings yourself.
§ 04 · The Honest Part
What we don't connect to — and why.
Every one of these is a decision with a reason behind it, not a gap waiting to be filled. None of them is "coming soon."
Gmail and Outlook.com over IMAP
Both technically allow it; we route them through the direct sign-in instead, which gives you real labels, proper search and instant push. For Microsoft accounts the question is now settled anyway — password-based mail access was switched off entirely in April 2026.
POP3-only mailboxes
POP3 has no folders, no read state, no search and no way to tell what changed. Supporting it would mean copying your whole mailbox onto our servers, which is the one thing this product is built not to do. If your provider also offers IMAP — nearly all do — use that.
Worth saying plainly
If you're already happy on Proton or Tuta, you don't need us. They hold your mailbox, which lets them encrypt every byte in it at rest — including mail from a stranger who has never heard of them. We hold nothing, so we seal what both ends agree to seal. That is the trade, and it's the right one for people who want the guarantee without giving up the address they've had for a decade.
